The Belgian mint strikes its last commemorative coin issue before closing its doors. This coin was struck Thursday, September 28 and is dedicated to the 200 year anniversary of GAND University. The circulating coins will be struck at the beginning of November 2017. The Belgian mint strikes until now 40 million coins per year.

The new €3 coin , dedicated to the Kingfisher of Europe, is part of the series “coloured species”. This commemorative coin has the double specificity of having a never seen face value in austrian euro coinages and of presenting a lumino-phosphorescent effect.

Stephan Satijn has been appointed as Mint Master at the Royal Dutch Mint. Satijn has worked as alderman responsible for economic affairs and infrastructure for the municipality of Venlo since 2011.
