2017 First World War commemorative coins of Monnaie de Paris

Since 2014, Monnaie de Paris developed a series of coins devoted to the Great War (1914-1918). In 2017, the french mint strikes on this occasion three new coins which commemorate in particular French aviator GUYNEMER.
1 – Non-circulating commemorative coins:Description of the coins:
On the obverse families are represented coming to see military planes taking off. At that time, takeoffs of planes were a show for the airfields close residents. Another plane is represented in the sky between a poppy and a cornflower whereas the SPAD of GUYNEMER is also taking off....

The US Mint (Mint of the United States) had, for one short period, a local branch which had been established in the DAHLONEGA city, in Georgia.

This year the Dutch Red Cross is celebrating its 150th anniversary. To mark this occasion, the second official commemorative coin of 2017, the Red Cross €5 coin, will be issued.
For the first time, a Dutch commemorative coin has the same design for the obverse and the reverse. Both sides of the coin feature a globe on its side, with interconnected crosses symbolizing the unity of the Red Cross and the affiliated associations worldwide.

Summer exhibition of BoE: New Jane Austen £10 banknote

If you are of passage to London, we invite you to visit the museum of the Bank of England. This museum recalls the history of English banknote since its origins. In addition, the new polymer banknote of £10, illustrated by a portrait of the author Jane Austen, will be put in circulation this summer.
It is the occasion, through an exhibition dedicated to this thême, to explore the banknotes of the Bank of England and literary connections of those, during the last three centuries.

A permanent exhibition of coins is presented to the public in the hall of the national Bank. It opened in August 2012. The exposure is a pleasant and accessible framework. Danish coins strike started from 1818, year of creation of the National Bank in Copenhagen, and are exposed there. The banknotes are not forgotten. The whole collection of the issued banknotes between 1713 and 2009 are also exposed. It is the same for banknotes of the Faroe Islands, printed between 1951 and 2012.

The obverse of this coin presents the plane “Spirit of Saint Louis” flying over top of Paris. Statue of Liberty is represented as well, as starting point of this great crossing who took place in 1927 on May 20th, between New York and Paris.
The 5808 kilometers separating the two cities were crossed in a little more than 33 hours. On this side of the coin, the face of LINDBERG appears, through a side port–hole. The size of the plane’s engine and the fact that the principal gas tank was in front of the pilot, prohibited any port–hole in front of the plane’s cockpit. The pilot could see in front of him only via a periscope system, identical to a submarine’s one.
