To celebrate this major cultural event, austrian mint intend to create a particularly innovative coin design. The coin’s obverse has the appearance of a plate with a flat inner part. This type of coin has never been minted before by the Austrian Mint. It is an austrian Mint Premiere.
Minted to a maximum of 30,000 pieces in Proof quality only, each 20 euro silver coin (925 Ag, 2/3 ounce) comes in an attractive case with a numbered certificate of authenticity.

Artist Wineke Gartz is the designer of the Jaap Eden commemorative coin. The Netherlands are proud of their skating champions. That certainly applies to Jaap Eden. Mrs Christine LAGARDE was appointed Governor of the ECB in July 2019.
After Win DUISENBERG, Jean Claude TRICHET and Mario DRAGHI, Mrs LAGARDE is the fourth Governor of the European Central Bank (ECB), since its creation and the first woman in this position.
For numismatists, this news is important as it will lead to the appearance of a new signature on euro banknotes.

Swissmint issues a 20 francs commemorative coin “Roger Federer”

For the first time in its history, Swissmint is dedicating a Swiss commemorative coin to a living person: Roger Federer. As well as being probably Switzerland’s most successful individual sportsman, he is also the perfect ambassador for Switzerland.
That is reason enough for Swissmint to honour Roger Federer with a 20-franc silver coin. The date of issue is 23 January 2020, and the pre-sale (uncirculated quality) begins on 2 December 2019. This will be followed by the release of a “Roger Federer” gold coin in May 2020.

The Greek Ministry of Finance announced today the clos issuing day of the 2019 proof coinset, on 12/10/2019.

An official communicate of Mint of Finland indicates it has won the Ministry of Finance’s public tender for the production of Finnish circulation euro coins, including €2 special coins. The contract period is from 1 June 2019 to 31 December 2022, and includes an option for two-year extension. This agreement does not include the sale of coin sets and €2 special coins.
