2023 €2 Slovakia – 100th anniversary of the first blood transfusion

In December 2021, the National Bank of Slovakia announced an anonymous public competition for the design of the €2 coin issued on the 100th anniversary of the first blood transfusion in Slovakia.

Fourteen designs from nine authors were submitted to the competition. In March 2022, the Commission for the Evaluation of Designs of Commemorative Coins and Collector Coins evaluated them. under the chairmanship of László Kiss (medical historian).

Estonia 2022: €2 commemorative coin dedicated to UKRAINE

The Bank of Estonia (Eesti Pank) plans to put into circulation a €2 coin dedicated to Ukraine and freedom. It was designed by a young Ukrainian refugee studying at the Estonian Academy of Arts. The coin should be in circulation by the end of this year. The income from the sale of the €2 coins will be donated to the Ukrainian Central Bank. This coin has been submitted to the European authorities for approval on 05/05/2022.

After the episode of the plagiarized design (see here the article of NUMISMAG on the subject), the design of the national side of the 2023 croatian one euro coin, selected within the framework of the new call for tenders, was presented on Wednesday at the 15th session of the National Council for the introduction of the euro as official currency in the Republic of Croatia.
