2022 new canadian coins series called “OPULENCE”

The Royal Canadian Mint launches the Opulence Collection. The coins in this collection demonstrate proven craftsmanship and feature some of the rarest gemstones in the world: pink diamonds from the Argyle mine. These gems, which adorn pure gold and platinum coins, truly redefine rarity. Featuring the one-of-a-kind Summum, a one-of-a-kind one kilogram piece struck in pure platinum and set with pink diamonds, this new collection was unveiled at the Ottawa Art Gallery.

For the launch of this exclusive collection, the Mint has partnered with Heffel Auction House, which will hold the sale of the Summum coin, the masterpiece of the collection. The auction will take place on May 31, 2022.

$200 PURE GOLD COIN – JEWEL

Each Jewel is struck in 1 oz. of 99.99% pure gold. Inspired by architectural elements, the reverse design by Canadian artist Simon Ng features a ring of Art Deco-style motifs encircling a central cherry blossom with scroll-embellished petals.

The engraving is adorned with five bright pink fancy diamonds totaling 0.06 carat. Each diamond was hand set in a rose gold plated ornament and cast in platinum, crafted by Beverly Hills Jewellers.

The obverse, featuring a recurring design inspired by the petals of the cherry blossom on the reverse, features the likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, according to Susanna Blunt. With only 400 pieces produced worldwide, the Jewel coin is priced at $12,999.95.

$350 COIN IN 99.95% PLATINUM – SPLENDID

The Faste coin is made of 2 oz of 99.95% pure platinum. The reverse design, by Simon Ng, features a cherry blossom surrounded by a ring of flowers and filigree vines.

The engraving on this 42mm piece is accented with 30 bright pink fancy diamonds (totaling 0.34 carats) that have been hand-set in rose gold-plated ornaments and cast in platinum, crafted by Beverly Hills Jewellers. These rare diamonds radiate from the center of the flower to the rose gold plated bead.

The obverse, featuring a recurring cherry blossom design, is in the likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, according to Susanna Blunt. Issued in only 30 pieces worldwide, the Faste coin is priced at $54,999.95.

$1,250 COIN OF 99.95% PLATINUM – SPLENDOR

This Simon Ng design is the Mint’s first-ever 99.95% pure platinum 10 oz. coin. The reverse design features a finely chiseled cherry blossom, which is surrounded by a delicate lacing of vines and bordered by an elaborate latticework.

Set in ornaments created by Beverly Hills Jewellers, 64 bright pink fancy diamonds (totaling a weight of 1.2 carats) add sparkle to the latticework decorating this 76.25 mm coin.

The obverse, featuring a recurring vine design, is in the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, according to Susanna Blunt. Issued in only five copies worldwide, this numismatic item is priced at $253,999.95.

$2,500 COIN OF 99.95% PLATINUM – ULTIMATE

This unique masterpiece is the flagship coin of the Opulence collection. It is also the Mint’s first ever 99.95% pure platinum one kilo coin. Polished to a numismatic proof finish, the 101.6 mm coin features a design on the reverse by Canadian artist Derek Wicks, immortalizing the beauty of cherry blossoms. A total of 462 hot pink fancy diamonds (totaling 6.5 carats) from the Argyle mine were hand-set in rose gold-plated ornaments and cast in platinum, crafted by Beverly Hills Jewellers.

These gemstone inlays on the reverse of the coin add a touch of sparkle to the rose gold-plated bead and the petals of more than two dozen flowers, including the center one, that come together to form an endiamonded bouquet.
