The Italian mint presented the different numismatic issues of year 2018. This program includes 14 creations by the Istituto Poligraphico E Zecca Dello Stato (IPZS).
2 euro – 60th Anniversary of the foundation of the Ministry of Health
The Republic safeguards health as a fundamental right of the individual and as a collective interest, as article 32 of the Italian Constitution reads, thus underlining the importance of the protection of health as an inalienable human right and a universal good. In 1958 the Ministero della Sanità was established – in 2001 renamed as “Ministero della Salute” – to ensure full implementation of this constitutional provision, while the attainment of its goals were entrusted to the “Servizio Sanitario Nazionale” (National Health Service), which was founded in 1978.

2 euro – 70th Anniversary of the entry into force of the Italian Constitution

5 euro – 70th Anniversary of the entry into force of the Italian Constitution
The Constitution of the Italian Republic was enacted by the Constituent Assembly on 22th December 1947 and came into force on 1st January 1948. It is a fundamental charter that perfectly combines rights and duties. Freedom and democracy have been thus guaranteed in our Country throughout the last seventy years to the advantage of social, economic and institutional development.
Obverse: allegory of triumphant Italy holding the Italian flag with green and red enamels, from a fresco by Cesare Maccari (Maccari Hall, Palazzo Madama, Rome). Around, the inscription “REPUBBLICA ITALIANA”; lower right, the name of the designer “L. DE SIMONI”.
Reverse: set in a frame, dominated by the inscription “SEI LIBERA SII GRANDE” (“you are free be great”) drawn from the fresco by Cesare Maccari reproducing the allegory of triumphant Italy (Maccari Hall, Palazzo Madama, Rome), an allegorical composition made of a circle and a square, symbols of Perfection and Knowledge. The composition is completed by the star of the Italian Republic and a detail from the fresco by Cesare Maccari “Humanities and the arts” (Maccari Hall, Palazzo Madama, Rome). 5 euro – Art treasures of Amatrice
Since 2015 Amatrice is considered among “the most beautiful villages of Italy” and is renowned for its wonderful Medieval historical centre as well as for its famous culinary speciality, the “bucatini all’amatriciana”. On August 24, 2016 the town was struck by a severe earthquake that caused hundreds of victims and destroyed most of the buildings, including examples of great architecture like the churches of St. Augustine and St. Francis.

5 euro – 50 th Anniversary of the foundation of the National Association of the State Police
E s stablished in 1968, the Associazione Nazionale Polizia di Stato or ANPS (National Association of the State Police) is committed to high ethical purposes and acts as a trait-d’union between retired and in-service police officers joining the Association voluntarily. The ANPS, which is present throughout the Country with 160 sections and 35 groups, as well as abroad with a headquarters in Canada, is the guardian of the national Medagliere, an extraordinary symbol of the sacrifice and devotion of the State Police personnel and of their commitment to citizens security.

5 euro – 900th Anniversary of the consecration of the 1118-2018
The Medieval Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Pisa, together with the Baptistery and the famous Leaning Tower, bears witness to the prestige achieved by the city as one of the most important Maritime Republics. Architect Buscheto started building this masterpiece of Pisan Romanesque architecture in 1063 as an extraordinarily harmonious combination of classical, Gothic, Lombard-Emilian, Byzantine and Islamic elements. The Cathedral rises in the centre of the piazza dei Miracoli which is also a UNESCO Heritage Site.

The majestic Villa Pisani is an imposing dwelling of the 17th century along the enchanting Riviera del Brenta. After hosting doges, kings and emperors, today the “Queen of Venetian villas” is a national museum where 18th and 19th centuries furniture and works of art are conserved. Villa Pisani’s beauty is enhanced by an enchanting garden with its original architecture, ambitious settings and its famous hedge maze, which is one of the most important in Europe.

10 euro – Trani Cathedral – Apulia – Italy of Arts Series
The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta of Trani stands out above a strip of land stretching on the wonderful, blue Adriatic Sea. Due to its location, this fine example of Romanesque-Apulian architecture made of a light coloured limestone has become one of the most famous cathedrals in the world and also a sentinel guarding the town.

10 euro – The Baroque – Europa Star Programme Series
The Baroque, an artistic and cultural movement flourishing in Rome around the third decade of the 17th century as its highest expression, was moved by the aim to surpass the perfect, smooth figures from the Classical period with more daring, rich and elaborate forms. Exuberance and theatricality, dramatic tension and strong light-and-shade contrasts are distinguishing features of an age inclined to be represented and celebrated gorgeously.

The final phase of the 21st FIFA World Cup will take place in Russia from 14th June to 15th July 2018. An important date for millions of football fans around the globe, eager to see thirtytwo national teams from the five continents compete in the stadiums of eleven Russian host cities for the most important trophy.

10 euro Marco Polo – Explorers Series
Born in the Republic of Venice in 1254, Marco Polo is considered one of the greatest voyagers and explorers of all time. Together with his father Niccol. and his uncle Matteo, he travelled along the Silk Road and reached China. Marco Polo collected his travel journals and descriptions of the places he visited in the “Book of the Marvels of the World”, also known as “The Travels of Marco Polo”. This work inspired Cristoforo Colombo’s journeys and represented an important source of information also for the composition of the famous Fra Mauro map of the world.

10 euro Trajan – Roman Emperors Series
Marcus Ulpius Nerva Traianus, universally recognized as one of the greatest Roman emperors, was declared Optimus Princeps already during his lifetime. He was Roman Emperor from 98 to 117 A.D. Thanks to Trajan’s actions and to his great military, administrative and political capabilities, under his reign the empire reached its maximum territorial, economic and cultural extent.
