By a decision of July 18th 2019, the European Council decided to issue a commemorative coin with a common design on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus programme (ERASMUS).
Dutch philosoph Erasmus
These commemorative coins will be issued collectively by all Member States whomade the euro changeover.
On 2 July 2019, on the basis of a proposal from the euro coins subcommittee, the Economic and Financial Committee approved in principle a joint commemorative issue for 2022 on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the Erasmus program.
As a reminder, the Netherlands has already issued a coin dedicated to ERASMUS in 2011. This coin is particularly popular with Dutch collectors because it is the first national Dutch commemorative coin, i. e. it is not a coin issued jointly with the other countries that have adopted the euro. Depending on its condition, this coin is worth between €7 and €11€, for a circulation coin.
