Τhe series of collectible three-ply sets (2019-2021) is dedicated to the national sides of the Cyprus euro coins. The first set of the series is dedicated to the cross-shaped sculpture (idol) of Pomos (3000 B.C.) from the Chalcolithic period. The said idol is depicted on the €1 and €2 coins. Being a characteristic example of Cyprus prehistoric art, it represents the heritage and civilization of the country endowed with a history of over 10.000 years.
5 000 coin sets will be issued.
The second set, to be issued in 2020, will present the “Kyrenia ship” (4th century B.C.). Its depiction on the 10, 20 and 50 cent coins symbolizes the importance of sea, shipping and trade throughout Cyprus’ history.
The series will be completed in 2021 with the third set to be dedicated to the Cyprus mouflon. This is depicted on the 1, 2 and 5 cent coins and is a unique species of the Cyprus fauna.
