Captain Francis Blake and Professor Philip Mortimer are characters created by Edgar P. Jacobs. They made their first appearance in the Belgian comics “Tintin magazine” in 1946. The series relates the adventures of the two friends, Professor Philip Mortimer, a renowned scientist and Captain Francis Blake, an MI5 agent.
Although the comic strip bears the names of both protagonists, Professor Philip Mortimer is the more important of the two. He is the one who often finds himself in difficult situations that his friend Captain Francis Blake helps him to solve. The stories take place from the 1940s to the early 1960s.
