The International Day of Forests was established on the 21st day of March, by resolution of the United Nations General Assembly on November 28, 2012. Each year, various events celebrate and raise awareness of the importance of all types of forests, and trees outside forests, for the benefit of current and future generations. The 5 euro coin reveals on the reverse side an assembly with a tree taking shape thanks to two intertwined hands, the fingers open upwards symbolising man’s need for support for forests. The crown is made up of different leaves, representing all the diversity of trees found all over the world. On the right side of the room a deep symbiosis between Mount Titan, its civilizations and forests are transcribed by three Towers, transformed into simple symbolic trunks topped with laurel leaves (glory) and oaks (strength), inspired by the coat of arms of the Republic of San Marino, with the addition of the olive tree (peace).
