
2020 japanese BU and proof sets 100th anniversary protecting nature

The Mint of Japan will issue at the end of december 2020 two annual coins sets, each of them containing all 2020 circulation coins and a medal commemorating 100th anniversary of protecting historic sites, places of scenic beauty and natural monuments.
2020 BU set specifications
Content: 6 circulation coins and a brass medal
Mintage: 40 000 sets, including 70 sets for overseas market
Medal: red brass – diameter of 27mm – weight of 7.5g
Date of issue: December 2020
2020 proof set specifications
Content: 6 circulation coins and a silver medal
Mintage: 20 000 sets, including 30 sets for overseas market
Medal: 925/1000 silver – diameter of 35mm – weight of 20g
Date of issue: December 2020
Silver medal uses holographic latent image technology developped by OSAKA Research Institut of Industrial Science and Technology. If you shine a LED light directly on obverse surface from a distance between 10 and 20cm, a KANJI caracter will appear in the depths of the medal. This KANJI caracter is the initial letter of the word “Natural Monuments” in japanese.
