ZECCA (Italian Mint) has just released its 2022 numismatic program. We suggest you to discover the main lines of this program in the video presentation of the ZECCA. This article will be regularly updated with informations that will be communicated to us by ZECCA.
In 2022, Italy will issue three 2 euro coins. One coin is dedicated to the common European theme of the ERASMUS program. ITALY will also issue two other €2 coins, on national themes. The first one is dedicated to FALCON and BORSELLINO judges, killed by the Mob. The second one is dedicated to the Italian state police. The themes of the italian 2 euros are dedicated to the police and judicial institutions of Italy. A €5 bi-metallic coin completes this set. This last one is dedicated to Monetary Anti-counterfeiting Command (Carabinieri unit).

Obverse: composition of the two most characteristic figurative elements of the Erasmus Programme: the original intellectual inspiration represented by the figure of the great theologian, humanist and philosopher Erasmus of Rotterdam, from a portrait by Hans Holbein (Louvre, Paris), and his influence on Europe which is symbolized by a number of connecting lines crossing the coin, an allegory of the
intellectual and human exchanges among European students. Nestled in this entanglement the number 35 indicates the years that have passed since the birth of the Erasmus programme. Below, on the right, in the shape of an arch, the dates “1987-2022”, the year of birth of the Erasmus Programme and that of the coin’s issue, respectively, and the inscription “ERASMUS PROGRAMME”; in the centre, “RI”, acronym of the Italian Republic and “JJ”, initials of the French designer Joaquin Jimenez; around, the twelve stars of the European Union.
