2022 slovak Numismatic program

The Mincovna Kremnica has today unveiled its numismatic program for 2022. This article will be regularly updated according to the informations provided by the Slovak Mint over time. The Slovak Mint will issue two €2 coins in 2022. The first one will be dedicated to the ERASMUS program. The second will commemorate the 300th anniversary of the invention of the first mining water pump.
In addition, the Slovak Mint has announced the themes of the €2 commemorative coins for the following years.
In 2023:
- €2 coin Beginning of the ordinary express mail Vienna – Bratislava (200th anniversary)
- €2 coin dedicated to the first blood transfusion in Slovakia (100th anniversary)
In 2024:
- 2€ coin Košice Marathon – 100th anniversary of its foundation

Winter Olympics – Beijing 2022

From February 4 to 20, 2022, the XXIV Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing. The Chinese capital hosted the XXIX Games.

The annual set of Slovak euro coins 2022 of the edition “Great of Slovak painting”” with a portrait of the representative of impressionism, Ladislav Medňanský. He was born in Beckov in 1852. He was a landscape artist of European importance. 2022 marks the 170th anniversary of the birth of this important painter.

Coincard with a commemorative coin of 2 euros “Construction of the first steam engine to drain water from mines in continental Europe – 300th anniversary”.
In May 2021, the National Bank of Slovakia launched an anonymous public competition for the design of the national side of the €2 face value commemorative euro coin on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the construction of the first steam engine for pumping water from the mines in continental Europe.
8 drawings from seven authors were submitted to the competition. Peter Valacha received the first prize. The date of issue of coins was set for October 2022.
