The Italian Mint has put online the video of the presentation of its 2021 numismatic program. Coins may be purchased on the e-commerce portal of the Italian Mint, as well as in the
points of sale of the Poligrafico and Zecca dello Stato (italian mint) from January 26th.
The article will be regularly updated.
The themes of this edition want to represent a feeling of union and national cohesion that finds
and cohesion that finds expression in the celebration of characters, historical events and artists
symbol of italian tradition and entrepreneurial culture, but also in the gratitude towards those who, in the last year, marked by the Covid-19 pandemic, have put their professionalism unreservedly at the service of the community.
In the Numismatic Collection 2021 there is a €2 coin dedicated to the health professions intended for ordinary circulation, to testify to the recognition of the community in the period of the emergency.
Italian creativity and genius, recognized throughout the world, are celebrated by Dante, Caravaggio and Ennio Morricone commemorative coins.
The Numismatic Collection has always been the result of the fusion between the artistic skills of the
master engravers and the technological innovation that every year develops more and more advanced minting methodologies, creating collector’s items.
In the 2021 Collection the frequent use of colored inserts and the most recent technique of phosphorescence, taken up in the coin depicting the Polar Bear, are enriched by some important novelties.
This is the case of the coin dedicated to the invention of the telephone, in which the use of copper is reminiscent of the telephone token or the coin dedicated to the 100 years of the Italian Basketball Federation, enriched by the rhodium-plating technique.
Last, but not least, the use of pure gold in coins evoke the myth for a coin dedicated to italian Lira.
