The german Federal Ministry of Finance has created a new brand in the coins sector since January 31st 2020. The “German Mint” (MUNZE DEUTSCHLAND) is the official agency of the german Federal Government with exclusive responsibility for the initial distribution and marketing of German collector coins issued by the Federal Ministry of Finance.
Three famous people act as representatives of the new brand, including german actress Esther SCHWEINS, presenting the 2020 coin with a polymer ring “Subpolar Zone”.

GERMANY is also breaking new ground this year by publishing even earlier a first outline of its numismatic programme for the year 2021. This article will be updated in the course of MUNZE DEUTSCHLAND’s official communications.
Noteworthy is the minting of a €25 coin, celebrating Christmas and the birth of Christ, on a concave side. This type of minting is a first in German euro numismatics.

Silver coin from the series Tales of the GRIMM brothers
This coin is dedicated to the tale of the GRIMM brothers (1st edition) dedicated to the Lady HOLLE, benefactress of a little girl who, mistreated by her mother-in-law (the mortality rate of women during childbirth being very high at the time, blended families were very common), runs away from the family home.
During her journey in a fantastic world, she meets the lady HOLLE who takes her in her service. Having conscientiously carried out the tasks entrusted to her by the Lady HOLLE, the little girl is covered with gold at the moment she gives her leave.

Silver €20 coin – European Championship of Football
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the European Football Championship was postponed last year. The 20 euro silver coin “European Football Championship 2020” will therefore also be issued this year. The year of the coin remains 2020 (probably because the coins had already been minted at the time of the cancellation of this sports competition).
The championship should start in June 2021. It will take place in twelve different stadiums distributed in different UEFA member countries, in Europe and beyond (BAKOU Stadium).

€25 silver coin – 2021 Birth of Christ (concave blank)
The €25 silver coin “Christmas – Birth of Christ” will be put into circulation at Christmas. The fine silver coin is the first so-called “flat coin” issued by the Federal Republic of Germany. With this minting technique, the base of the coin – similar to a plate – has a concave depression and thus allows a more vivid representation of the coin’s design.

13th Dec 2022 - 0 h 40 minGreetings from America. I am a journalist researching a magazine article on Otto Schultz (1848-1911), engraver and designer at the Royal Prussian Mint in Berlin. I have good information on the medals and coins he designed, but I lack any biographical information. Nor have I been able to locate a photograph of this truly great engraver. Any help would be deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your attention.
