2022 numismatic program of LUXEMBOURG

Last update the 08/10/2022 – CBL ( Central Bank of Luxembourg) communicated its 2022 coin issues program during a phone interview on January 3rd, 2022. On April 12, 2022, it completed the information previously communicated. The program consists of three €2 commemorative coins, three non-circulating commemorative coins (collector coins) including one rarity, one annual BE set and one annual BU set.

The CBL postpones its project of investment coin. There will therefore be no bullion coin in 2022. Furthermore, the theme of the 20 years of the euro has not been chosen as the subject of a 2022 numismatic issue.

In 2022, all values of the circulation divisional series will be minted in at least 50,000 pieces. Only the 5 cent, 10 cent and 20 cent coins will be minted in higher quantities.

The 5-cent, 10-cent, and 20-cent coins will be minted respectively in 3,050,000, 2,050,000, and 1,050,000 circulation copies.

All coins were minted by the Netherlands Mint (KNM) except for the national commemorative €2 coins dedicated to the Luxembourg flag and the Grand Ducal family as well as the €2 ERASMUS in BU and BE quality. These were minted by the Monnaie de Paris.

The €2 commemorative 2022 in UNC version and minted by the KNM bear  the caduceus and the raven marks.

The designs of the two national commemorative €2 coins 2022 (€2 “flag” and €2 “grand-ducal family”) were designed by the Austrian Mint. €2 commemorative coin dedicated to ERASMUS Program was designed by Joaquin JIMENEZ, engraver in chief of Monnaie de Paris (french mint).
